Harry Manx
Doors 6pm · Show 8:30pm
Harry Manx is returning to Australia with a brand new album to share.
The New York Times called him “deliciously addictive”, saying that when you listen to Harry Manx, “you are listening to an original.” A seven-time Maple Blues Award winner, Folk Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and the recipient of six Juno nominations, Harry invites you into what fans affectionately call the Harry Zone.
Manx has spent years fusing Eastern musical traditions with the blues, switching effortlessly between guitars, harmonica, banjo, and the distinct Mohan veena — a 20-stringed instrument created by his Indian mentor Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Often described as the “Mysticssippi Blues Man,” Manx inhabits the rare space where the depth of Indian classical music meets the deep groove of the Mississippi blues.
Blend Indian folk melodies, slide-guitar blues, a sprinkle of gospel, and some compelling rhythmic grooves, and you have Manx’s unmistakable Mysticssippi flavour — a sound that keeps audiences returning again and again.
Downbeat Magazine said: “Manx’s real talent lies in creating a place where Blues and Indian Classical are a seamless fit.”
Billboard Magazine called him “Canada’s most expressive Blues player.”
Bruce Springsteen, after seeing Manx perform I’m On Fire at the International Guitar Festival in NYC, said:
“Watching Harry play tonight I feel like I learned something new…”
Downbeat critic Frank Hadley wrote:
“Harry’s real skill lies in creating a rare musical place where blues, country, folk and Indian classical music co-exist as some spirit force.”
